What's happening at Emerald RSL

Safe travels
'Kokoda Kids'
After their trip was cancelled at the last hour in 2024, a group of students and leaders from Emerald Secondary College will be trekking the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea in early July.
It’s been our pleasure to support the groups fundraising efforts, and it was great to reconnect this week prior to their journey.
We wish you all a safe journey!

"It was a great privilege to attend the Emerald RSL’s annual awards ceremony — a moving tribute to those who served in conflicts across our nation’s history.

These awards acknowledge the courage, sacrifice and service of the great Australians who have worn our uniform with pride.

A very special thank you to Daryl Bristowe, whose tireless dedication to this cause has seen him present over 600 awards over many years. Daryl, your commitment to honouring our veterans is nothing short of extraordinary.

Thank you also to my colleagues Aaron Violi MP and Daniela De Martino MP for attending, and to Kane Falconer (President) and Tanya Jogan (Secretary) for their leadership and hard work behind the scenes.

It is vital that we continue to remember and honour those who served, ensuring their legacy is never forgotten.

Their sacrifices built the freedoms we enjoy today — we will always be grateful.
Lest we forget"

"Very honoured to be named in the 2025 Kings Birthday Honours and Awards list as a recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to veterans and the community.
I’d like to thank Laura and Henry for always being supportive during my great “ideas” as well as all my friends that come to help when the call is sent out! Mostly because they get dragged into it.
And a big Thanks to those that took the time to nominate me, be referees for and research all the stuff I’ve done. It’s trip down memory lane reading it all! From kicking off Young Veterans back in 2012, my time in the ADF, supporting causes like RSL Victoria’s ANZAC appeal, Disaster Relief Australia, CFA or SES, Fight MND or the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb. It sure has been a ride
A big congratulations to all the other amazing Australians named in today’s Honours and Awards list!"

"It was an honour to present local veteran and tireless community volunteer Daryl Bristowe with his Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
This medal recognises Daryl's service to our nation in the Australian Defence Force.
The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal was issued by the Government of the Republic of Vietnam to recognise Australian personnel who served during the period commencing on 31 July 1962 and ending on 28 March 1973.
Congratulations Daryl, and thank you for your service."

"Emerald RSL Sub-Branch applied for a Grant through the Veterans Capital Works Grant Program and recently received advice our application has been successful. We are very grateful and excited about the upcoming works which will enable improved handrails, ramp and disability access, as well as toilet facility safety upgrades. It’s a fantastic opportunity, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to our Clubrooms and supporting our community all-inclusively"
